Today was the 2014 Pennsylvania Conference for Women. Approximately 8,000 women attended and I was so excited that my firm was a supporting organization! What were the highlights? Well, as you can see from the photo on the left, meeting Diane Keaton was definitely high on my list! Annie Hall is one of my all-time favorite movies and when I worked at a large law firm and had a baby, when I returned from maternity leave most days I felt like J.C. Wyatt in Baby Boom. Diane Keaton always seemed like an actress that marches to her own beat, has some great, juicy roles and she is so funny and charming. I would have to say this was my highlight of the conference. Other highlights were a great seminar by Tara Sophia Mohr, who just released (and autographed for me), a book called Playing Big. Her seminar today was about taming your inner critic, which is the little voice in your head that is not very nice and tries to keep you in your safe comfort zone. If you’ve read any of my business success tips over the past year, you know that I constantly tell people the hardest part about being an entrepreneur is keeping a positive mind-set. I also attended a great branding session where I probably heard my favorite quote of the day from Mighty Engine CEO Heseung Song, “If you are the smartest person in the room, move to another room.” If you didn’t get a chance to attend this year, I strongly urge you to attend next year. It was a great event that brought together so many women, including entrepreneurs, employees, creators, moms, college students, all in one place to really support and learn from other women. Book your tickets early, the event sells out every year! |
