It’s almost time for the Pope visit! After months of anticipation and sometimes dread, the Pope will be upon us in under 48 hours. This week the city finally released numbers for how much all of this will cost the city and taxpayers. That leads to the question – who will actually make money from this event? All around town this week are Pope souvenirs: t-shirts, tote bags, costumes, you name it, we’ve got it with the Pope’s face on it. Anyone that’s worked in retail knows you have to sell a LOT of $15 t-shirts to make any kind of profit. If you are a business in center city either making money or struggling to make money from the Pope’s visit, we’d love to hear from you in the comments and include your story in next week’s post-Pope business recap. | Photo by Alfredo Borba |
